For WordPress only. A self-hosted WordPress plugin — not a hosted scanning service.
Personal Data Scanner

Last updated: September 2026

This is a plain-language policy for an early-access product website. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and should be treated as a starting draft, not a finished legal document, before real payments or personal data processing begin at scale.

This policy covers two separate things: this website at personaldatascanner.com, and the Personal Data Scanner WordPress plugin. They are treated separately below because they handle data very differently.

1. This website

This website is a static set of pages with no account system, no server-side form processing, and no analytics or advertising scripts installed. It sets no cookies. The only way to contact us from this site is a mailto: link, which opens your own email client — nothing is submitted to a server we operate when you click it.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, exactly as any email exchange works. We use that only to reply to you and, if you asked to be notified about launch, to send that one notification. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with any third party. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing support@personaldatascanner.com.

Our web hosting provider processes standard server access logs (IP address, requested page, timestamp) as a normal part of serving any website. We do not use these logs for tracking or profiling.

2. The Personal Data Scanner plugin

The plugin is self-hosted software that you install on your own WordPress site. We, Digital Space, do not operate any server that the plugin talks to, and the free version of the plugin makes no outbound network requests. There is no telemetry.

Concretely:

  • Scanning happens entirely inside your own WordPress installation, on your own server.
  • Findings are stored as masked values only (for example, j***@example.com), never as the raw personal data that was found.
  • We never see, receive, or have access to the personal data your site holds or the results of any scan you run.

If you purchase a Pro license, license verification (checking that a key is valid and how many sites are using it) is handled by our licensing and payments provider, and involves your site sending a license key and site URL to that provider to activate the license — the same way any licensed WordPress plugin works. It does not involve sending your scan results or any personal data your site holds.

3. Payments

Pro licenses are sold through a third-party payment and licensing provider who acts as the merchant of record. They process payment details directly; we do not receive or store your card details. See Terms & Refunds for more on the purchase itself.

4. Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or a jurisdiction with similar rights, you can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you (which, for most visitors, is nothing beyond an email you sent us), correct it, or delete it. Email support@personaldatascanner.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

5. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
