Terms & Refunds — Personal Data Scanner

This is a draft policy for an early-access product. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the refund window and checkout process below will be finalized once Pro sales open through our payment provider. Treat this page as a statement of intent, not a finished contract, until then.

1. The free plugin

Personal Data Scanner (free) is distributed under the GPLv2 or later license, as required for any plugin listed on wordpress.org. You may use, copy, modify, and redistribute it under the terms of that license. It is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

2. The Pro add-on

Personal Data Scanner Pro is a separate, licensed plugin. Purchasing a license grants you the right to activate and use Pro on the number of WordPress sites your plan allows (one site, five sites, or unlimited sites on the Agency plan — see pricing), for as long as your license is active. Pro's own source code is also GPL-licensed, as required for any plugin that integrates with WordPress; what you are paying for is the license key, updates, and support, not a restriction on the code itself.

3. Purchases and payment

Pro licenses will be sold and processed by a third-party licensing and payments provider, who acts as the merchant of record for the transaction, handles applicable VAT, and issues your invoice. That provider's own terms of sale apply to the transaction itself; this page describes our side of the arrangement.

4. Refunds

We intend to offer a no-questions-asked refund window on Pro purchases (planned: 14 days from purchase). The exact process will be handled through our payments provider once sales are live, and will be confirmed on this page and at checkout before you are asked to pay.

5. Renewals and cancellation

Pro licenses are expected to renew automatically on the plan's billing cycle unless canceled beforehand. You will be able to cancel auto-renewal at any time from your license account; canceling stops future charges but does not itself refund the current period.

6. Support

Support for the free plugin is provided on a best-effort basis, primarily through the wordpress.org support forum once the plugin is listed there. Pro license holders get priority email support at support@personaldatascanner.com.

7. No warranty of compliance

Personal Data Scanner helps you find personal data on your WordPress site. It does not guarantee compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, or any other regulation, and it is not a substitute for legal advice. You remain responsible for how you configure the plugin and what you do with what it finds.

8. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting active Pro subscribers will be communicated by email.
